GPS Music Artists

My new venture GPS Music artists is online here
www.gpsmusicartists.co.uk

GPS MA is a new musicians agency representing a mixture of established and up and coming musicians working in the traditional, folk and pop worlds. The agency is run by Graham Smout who has built up many contacts in recent years and has a wide and varied musical background in traditional, folk and contemporary music. Please feel free to call him to discuss any of the artists represented, or if you would like to join GPS MA then please get in touch!

Artist Representation for:
Michael Chapman

* This self-styled old white blues guy from Yorkshire is one of the most under-rated heroes of our time. He has a unique English melancholic perspective and an emotive guitar style .....

The Durbervilles

* The Durbervilles create a unique blend of folk, roots and traditional music, with strong harmonies, thoughtful and crafted lyrics. Their sound has been described by R2 magazine as like the “rootsy edge of Steve Earle & Lindisfarne and with a folkie's grasp of the instrumentals.” while Maverick magazine says “the Durbervilles do not stick to the English Folk route but throw country and Cajun into the mix to make a glorious sound”.

Steve Tilston & The Durbervilles

*

In this latest venture Steve Tilston teams up with established Yorkshire based alt country/folk quintet The Durbervilles to bring rootsy dynamism to the material. This combination creates a sound reminiscent of a cross between the golden era of Fairport, Oyster Band and The Band which would be a certain hit on any festival stage.

The Durbervilles song writing and four part harmony singing are also strengths which enhance their growing reputation and attracted Steve Tilston to the idea of this new partnership.

Wilful Missing

* From Bradford, West Yorkshire, Wilful Missing are a great experience live or on record, with beautifully arranged songs featuring Mandolin, Cello, Acoustic Guitar, Keyboards, Accordion, Bagpipes, Cajon, Drums, Bass, Smacked Electric Guitar, Penny Whistle and Albert's Whistling!

Kath Reade

* Northern based folk singer Kath Reade has a winning way of captivating her audience. Her sound has both British folk and Americana stylings and her songs have that magic something that evokes the mood of some lost timeless classic ....

Broken Ground

* York-based alt-country/neo-folk trio Broken Ground (Chris Williams, Phil Simpson & Matt Lockwood) combine finely crafted songs and foot stampin' grooves rich with harmonies that echo Simon & Garfunkel & The Everly Brothers.

John Drury

* John Drury is a superb singer songwriter from The Worth Valley, near Keighley. In the mid 90’s he became well known in Yorkshire and beyond and recorded with Steve Tilston, Maggie Boyle, Chris Newman and others. His music has a spiritual and loving feel, with wonderfully evocative lyrics and subtle guitar accompaniment.

Luke Hirst & Sarah Smout

* Sparkling with imagination, Luke and Sarah are already causing a stir on the local music scene and 2010 promises to be their biggest year to date.
